We first met Nyla Sammons at one of our very first community photography sessions, and from the moment she picked up the camera you could tell she really understood her craft.
Lighting, composition, framing, movement, everything feels intentional with Nyla’s work. She has a strong creative eye but also knows how to make people feel comfortable in front of the camera, which is a huge part of what makes her shoots so good.
Beyond the quality of the work itself, Nyla always brings great energy onto set. Friendly, easy to work with, and genuinely passionate about creating, she’s the type of photographer that naturally helps people settle into the environment and perform at their best.
Portrait photography has been a huge part of her journey so far, alongside a range of corporate work, but what’s been exciting to watch is her willingness to keep pushing into new spaces creatively. More recently she’s been developing within sport and movement photography which is something we explored together in our latest shoot. Combining strong portraits with a sharp eye for action and motion.
What we also respect heavily is the fact that her impact goes beyond just taking photos. Nyla actively gives back to her own local community, encouraging more people to step into photography and create for themselves. That mindset of building with others and opening doors is exactly what Sonder is about.
This spotlight is just the beginning of documenting the work we continue to build together, and we’re excited to keep showcasing more of Nyla’s projects, shoots, and creative growth over time.
