Jess has been performing since childhood and never really considered another path. A drama school graduate with a strong grounding in musical theatre, she's spent the last few years building a solid list of roles and now has representation that finally matches the scope of what she wants to do, spanning both stage and screen.
She joined Sonder Access feeling ready to take charge of branching out into screen work after several successful years in theatre, wanting to build a network of like-minded creatives while updating her showreel material and headshots. Since then, she's been pushing further into screen work, picking up commercial experience and applying to short films, while also chasing a growing interest in voice acting.
For her character profile, she had the idea of going with a fantasy concept built around swords, which we brought to life in the studio, as well as gearing up with the firearms to capture two different looks. In her words, getting to see herself as "a sword-wielding, gun-slinging badass" was one of the most fun parts of the whole experience. She's since paired up with cohort-mate Teondra, who she met through the programme, for a joint showreel scene, the first of several collaborations taking shape within the group, filming two scenes together that she describes as a lovely experience.
Jess is super committed to the programme and has been active at both the shoots and meet-ups throughout Sonder Access, bringing great energy every time she shows up. She walked away with genuine connections and exactly the showreel footage she was after. In her own words: "If you're looking for a network of creatives striving to get a footing in this industry, I'd definitely recommend at least having a chat with Sam, if not joining the next cohort." She's fit in brilliantly with everyone involved, and it's been great having her as part of the community.
